Add a card and read your bill

Add a card in Paddle's form, follow the month on Billing, and read its statement on the 1st.

Updated

This walkthrough adds a card to one of your organizations, follows its month as it builds up, and reads the statement Cloud makes on the 1st. Everything happens under Settings, then Billing. Billing is the reference for each part.

You need a Cahaves Cloud account and a card that Paddle's form accepts. Payments are in US dollars. If you run only your first nano service, and your first nano database within its free data, you need no card yet.

Each organization has its own card and its own bill, so start in the organization the card is for: the switcher at the top of the sidebar names the one the console is in. To pay for another organization's work too, repeat the walkthrough there.

Add a card

  1. Open Billing

Open Settings, then Billing. Payment method reads No card on file and offers Add a card.

  2. Open Paddle's form

Press Add a card. A page opens with Paddle's form beside a summary that reads "Paddle charges nothing to save the card. Any past month waiting for a card is charged to it once it is saved, and after that Cloud charges it on the 1st of each month for the month before." Paddle keeps the card on a subscription of $0.00 a month, which charges nothing itself.

  3. Enter the card

The form already holds your account's email, which is where Paddle sends its receipts. Add your country, and your postal code where the tax needs it, then the card. Your bank may ask you to confirm it.

  4. Check the result

The page reads "Paddle has the card. Saving it to this organization.", then Your card is saved. Back on Billing, Payment method shows the card, such as "Visa ending in 4242", with its expiry and Change card. Paid work in the organization is accepted from now on, within its monthly limit.

If you close the form before it completes, nothing is kept and no card is on file. Press Add a card again.

Follow the month

This month shows Used so far, Projected for the month (what the month comes to if everything running now keeps running to its end) and the organization's Monthly limit, with a meter of the projection against the limit. The table under it has a row for each of its services that ran: its project and name, its size, the hours it ran and what they cost. A service you start now appears from the next hourly count.

Your first nano service is not in the table, in whichever organization it runs, because it runs free and costs nothing, and your first nano database is charged only for the data past its free allowance.

If a change would take the month past the organization's limit, Cloud refuses it with a sentence such as "This would take this month to $27.40 against your $20 limit. Contact support to raise the limit." Once Used so far itself reaches the limit, the organization's paid services stop until the next month begins or the limit is raised, while your free service and database keep running. The monthly limit explains how the figure is worked out.

Read the statement

On the 1st, Statements gains a row for the month before, with its total, its state and its document.

  • The row reads Charging your card while Paddle takes the payment, then Paid, and Paddle emails you its receipt.

  • Its document is Paddle's invoice for the charge, as a PDF.

  • The document's lines are the month's services, one line for each service and rate, such as "shop / api, small, 312 h at $0.0137 an hour".

A month too small to charge on its own reads Carried to next month, and its total opens the next month's statement.

Below Statements, Invoices and receipts lists every invoice, receipt and credit note Cahaves has issued to the organization, once there is one to show, each with its own PDF.

If the charge fails

If the bank refuses the charge, the row reads Payment failed and Cloud emails you. New paid work is refused with "The charge for December 2026 did not go through. Pay it in billing to run apps past the free tier." until the month is paid. Cloud also emails you the date and time its paid services stop if the month is still unpaid then; pay before it, and nothing stops (Stopped for billing).

  1. Press Pay now

On the failed row, press Pay now. A Payment page opens in the console with Paddle's form beside the amount owed.

  2. Pay

Pay with the same card or another. The page reads "Paddle has the payment. Marking the month paid.", the row reads Paid, and paid work is accepted again.

Payments covers the messages each step can show.
