Troubleshooting
Deleting is refused
What must go before a service or a project can be deleted, and how to remove each piece.
Updated
Cloud deletes nothing that other things still point at. A project must be empty, and a service must first lose its domains, its volumes and the backup schedules you added to it. Each refusal names the next thing to remove.
Deleting a service
The confirmation dialog says the service "is stopped and removed with its environment", and Cloud checks the rest only when you confirm. A refusal arrives as a red toast.
Deleting a database takes no backup
The dialog for a database adds "Copy out any data you need first: no backup is taken." Download a recent dump from Storage, Backups first if you need the data. See Backups.
Clearing what a deletion needs
Removing a domain, a volume or a schedule has refusals of its own.
| Message | Why | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| This service is suspended. | You are removing a domain of a service the account's suspension stopped. | Contact support to have the suspension lifted, then remove the domain. |
| Reconcile this volume attachment before removing it. | The attachment is marked Awaiting confirmation: Cloud does not yet know whether the platform took it. | Press Check attachment on its row, then Remove. |
| Backup history still references this volume. | A backup schedule you added still backs up this volume. | On Storage, Backups, press Archive schedule on it, then remove the volume. |
| Disable pre-deploy backups before removing this schedule. | The database uses this schedule for Backup before deployment. | On the database's Storage tab, set Before deployment to Disabled and press Save deployment backup, then archive the schedule. |
| Wait for the service deployment to finish. | The service is deploying. | Wait for the deployment to end, then repeat. |
Deleting a project
A project is deleted only when it holds no services. The delete control says so before you press it. For a project named shop with two services:
in the Projects table, the delete button is greyed out with "shop still has services, so it cannot be deleted";
on the project's Settings, the Delete project card reads "shop still holds 2 services. Delete them from the project first, and then the project can be deleted."
If a service was added in another tab after the page loaded, the deletion is refused with:
This project still has services. Remove them first.
Delete each service in the project as above, then delete the project.
To disconnect a GitHub account that a service still builds from, see GitHub will not connect.
