Troubleshooting
Database connection and public access
Why an application cannot reach a database, and every refusal on the Connection card.
Updated
Everything about reaching a database is on its Connection card, on the database's Overview: Database, Username, Password, Port, Version, Internal address and Public address. Most connection problems come from using the wrong address or an old password; the refusals the card can show are listed after that.

Public access
Turn on opens a port on the internet, and the database there is protected by its password alone. Turning it on or off restarts the database, and anything connected loses its connection. Turn it on only for a connection that cannot run on the platform, and turn it off when you are done.
Every change on the card is refused while the account is suspended, and the password and public access also while a backup of the database runs; see Deploy is greyed out or refused for those sentences.
